Why Preparation Matters

Ayahuasca can be a strong and personal experience. Good preparation helps guests arrive with a clearer body, calmer mind, and better understanding of what they are entering.

Preparation is not about perfection. It is about respect, simplicity, honesty, and making sure the retreat team understands your health situation before ceremony.

Prepare the Body

Eat simple food, reduce heavy meals, avoid alcohol and recreational drugs, and arrive rested when possible.

Prepare the Mind

Slow down before the retreat, reduce distractions, and reflect on why you feel called to participate.

Communicate Clearly

Tell us about medications, health conditions, emotional concerns, and previous plant medicine experiences.

Recommended Preparation

  • Eat simple, light, and natural food before the retreat.
  • Drink enough water and arrive hydrated.
  • Rest well in the days before ceremony.
  • Reduce stress, noise, and unnecessary distractions.
  • Spend time reflecting on your intention.
  • Tell us about relevant health or medication information before booking.

What to Avoid Before Ayahuasca

  • Alcohol and recreational drugs.
  • Heavy, greasy, or very processed foods.
  • Excessive sexual activity before ceremony.
  • Arriving exhausted, rushed, or without rest.
  • Hiding medications or health conditions from the retreat team.
  • Stopping prescribed medication without medical advice.

Ayahuasca Preparation Diet

In general, we recommend a simple and clean diet before the retreat. This can include fresh vegetables, fruits, rice, quinoa, oats, light soups, legumes, and lean proteins if appropriate for your body.

We recommend reducing or avoiding alcohol, pork, very spicy foods, heavy fried food, excessive salt, excessive sugar, and very processed meals. Some guests also reduce dairy, red meat, caffeine, and fermented foods before ceremony.

The goal is not to punish the body. The goal is to arrive lighter, clearer, and better prepared for the retreat process.

Medications and Health Screening

Ayahuasca preparation must include honest communication about medications and health conditions. Some medications and substances may be unsafe with ayahuasca.

  • Tell us if you take antidepressants, psychiatric medication, stimulants, or sleep medication.
  • Tell us if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, seizures, liver/kidney issues, or serious medical conditions.
  • Tell us if you have a history of psychosis, bipolar mania, severe panic, or psychiatric hospitalization.
  • Do not stop prescribed medication suddenly without speaking with a qualified healthcare professional.

Important Safety Note

Ayahuasca is not suitable for everyone. Before confirming participation, guests should be open with us about their health background, current medications, and emotional condition.

Our role is to prepare responsibly and decide whether the retreat is appropriate. If there is any doubt, we may ask you to consult a qualified healthcare professional before booking.
